It's time to spread our wings and fly

Yo,

I have been pretty busy with work. Normally if I say this it would properly means "Nah I have been fed up with life and procrastinating as always" but this time I do mean it. I had an exhausting week, but well it was worth it, I lost some weight, and finally have enough money to buy something I want.

Omg how did I forget that Tet has just passed haha. Happy New Year everyone. My family back home is on vacation to Phu Quoc and has been sending photos and calling me everyday to show me how pretty the place is ugh. Mom even brought home a jar of sand, Nhim got a starfish and Dad got some ca' kho. Very well played huphm -_-

MOVIES I HAVE WATCHED:

1. Frances Ha:

Found a quote on Tumblr which properly sum up my feeling about the movie:

"While capturing the hilarity, awkwardness and anxiety all of us might face in our late 20s – gaining and losing best friends while pursuing what feels like an increasingly impossible dream – Frances Ha says something very specific about gender. It shows us that women can be messy, graceful, sad, funny, artistic, ambitious and caring all at once. You know, human."

Why Frances Ha Is The Must-See Feminist Film Of The Year So Far

Frances Ha is about Frances, a 27 to-be-dancer living with her best friend, Sophie. Life is good when Sophie was around, but when she decided to leave Frances to live in another apartment, our heroin was left in the jungle of life, of failing dreams and friendship, of money lack and all the problems every 20 something would meet in life. The movie is really light and funny, as we see Frances trying to untangle her problems in such an awkward and non-hollywood-kind-of-thing way. The film feels so real, properly because of how relate-able it is; and I love it that Frances, even though she is so messed up in every aspects, is still so strong and positive and lovable - as a woman should be.

2. Norwegian Wood:

I fell in love with Tran Anh Hung's movies when I watched "The scent of Green Papaya", so artistic and beautiful, every scenes is art. Yet I can't bring myself to like this movie. I have read the book before I watched, yet it is still so hard to understand the movie itself. So many details of the book have been skipped, leave the audiences in confuse to catch why this and that happened. Watching the movie makes me feel like I am watching a bunch of lazy, so-bored-with-life-I-want-to-die people. But well that's what I see in the book as well, so can't blame the movie.

The cinematography is great though. I like how the characters never stop moving when they talk, which implied the crazily fast flow of thoughts in their heads. Like how Midori talked about her father and moved around the bright place and the dark place in her house - which seems to say a lot more about her true feeling towards the topic. And the scenery was beautiful, especially in the hospital where Naoko lived.

Anw to sum up, I don't like this movie, or the book. They are both beautifully portrayed by masters of the field - Haruki and Tran Anh Hung - but the story itself is not my cup of tea.

3. The Wolf Of Wall Street:

Just mentioning this movie makes me want to laugh haha. Such an incredibly crazy movie. And totally eye opening as well. Even when I hate everything business-related to guts, I mean I would always try to avoid real life business movies, I enjoy this to the fullest.

And as everyone, I was charmed by Leonardo Dicaprio's performance (arent we all?). He is such an incredible actor, he became a completely different person in each and every of his roles. From the sweetheart Jack to the obsessive Gatsby to the maniac... and now to the dick Jordan Belfort.  Everyone would love and hate Jordan at the same time, and Leonardo's Jordan was such an crazy, talented and fucked up human being. Totally recommended!

4. The Kings of Summer:

Omg this movie will go straight to my top favourite, it is everything I was looking for. I know I would love it the moment I watched the trailer:

It was about 3 teenager boys - Joe, Patrick and Biaggio running away from home and their suffocating parents to build a house in the wood, and there their adventures begin, when they discover friendship, family love and what is it like to be free. The movie is hilarious and so heartwarming. It was shot beautifully as well, I love the green-ness tone of it - so summery. All of the characters are so lovable, even the sarcastic and cold-hearted dad of Joe that everyone seems to hate at the beginning slowly learn more about himself and his son thanks to Joe's journey. The script is funny as hell, I love every parts of Biaggio haha. I think this is a great summer movie, a tale for young adults looking for a way to escape and find themselves.

I loveeeee the ending, even when it is so obvious and totally expected. But there is something so cool about boys' friendship, like you can fuck everything up, but we are bros, so we will be ok. Haha let's be honest here girls, we will never be able to do that, we will think too much and drown ourselves with doubt; well at least I do.

Anw, back to the movie, this is so easy, so fun and so lovely. Nothing serious and nothing sad, and full of bromance. I know that most teenagers movies are so cliche and simple, and actually this movie is also kinda that way, but aren't we all love to have fun, to be so simple-minded and so free to dream?

WHAT I HAVE BEEN LISTENING:

I wouldn't say that I am a true Beatles fan, since I don't/ haven't listened to every Beatles songs and albums. Yet I enjoyed their music and their hippie/ rock n roll spirit a lot. It is more like I love the idea of them more than they themselves. Their music have the magic to make people happy. One song I have been repeating this week is (Just Like) Starting Over by John Lennon, such a positive happy vibe :

Why don't we take off alone,
Take a trip far, far away,
We'll be together on our own again,
Like we used to in the early days,
Well, well, well darling,
